About the Business
Based primarily in the Brisbane area, Consulting IT provide managed services to a wide variety of business clients spread across Australia and New Zealand. Our clients range from not-for-profit & professional services, recycling, manufacturing and energy services. We have a focus on providing excellent support and turning IT into an enabler for our clients, not a cost.
We are seeking an experienced tech to join our team, someone who can hit the ground running and add value to our team from day one.
This position is primarily Work from Home, with a roster of 1 week on site every 6-8 weeks at a Logan based client (after your initial training)
Your typical day could involve:
- Provide first-level technical support to users via phone, ticketing system and remote assistance tools.
- Diagnose and resolve basic technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, backups, and system monitoring.
- Setup, configure, and maintain IT equipment and peripherals.
- Working with a wide range of customers, technologies and varied environments. (We don’t believe in artificially limiting our techs – as soon as you’re ready you’ll be given access to work with all our systems).
- Create and manage user guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting articles, and keep out internal documentation updated.
- Responding to monitoring alerts, and backup management.
- Some site visits, both for specific incidents and managing client relationships.
- Help with rollouts and project tasks, with our senior tech team.
- Assisting with improving processes and finding better outcomes, both internally and for our clients.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year experience within an MSP or internal Helpdesk environment.
- A strong interest in technology.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills with demonstrated knowledge of current computing technologies in a business environment, in particular Windows, Microsoft 365/Office.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues for a range of devices including end user devices, printers, networking devices.
- Exceptional and proactive customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to all types of users, both face to face and remotely.
- Basic understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be prepared for the occasional out of hours work or travel.
- PLEASE NOTE: All our staff primarily work from home, so the majority of your training will be provided remotely
Experience with the following technologies is desirable, but not essential
- Remote Desktop/VDI/Azure Virtual Desktop
- Azure or AWS/GCP
- Cloud based backup/DR software
- Remote access and RMM/monitoring systems
Any relevant industry or Microsoft/vendor certifications would be a bonus but are in no way required. All we ask is for a willingness to learn and train with new technologies.

Other role requirements
- This position is primarily a work from home role. You must have the ability to work autonomously in your own home office.
- You must hold and maintain a driver’s licence or the ability to attend client premises when required.
- You must be able to be on call on a rotating roster (about two fortnights a year).
- You must have or the ability to obtain a working with children check (blue card) and national police check.
